Graduate Programs

MTSU’s College of Education offers multiple cohort-based graduate programs at various locations in Middle Tennessee where this is sufficient interest. Students may contact each program to determine off-campus cohort availability by following the links in the degree descriptions below.

Curriculum and Instruction (M.Ed. and Ed.S.)

The Womack Educational Leadership department offers the Curriculum and Instruction program, leading to either a Master of Education (M.Ed.) or a Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) degree. The Curriculum and Instruction program, leading either to a Master of Education (M.Ed.) or a Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) degree is designed to foster the development of teaching skills that result in increased pupil performance. By analyzing curriculum choices and strategies, along with best teaching practices, those who complete either of these programs will be better equipped to provide an environment in which students engage in relevant and meaningful learning activities.

Administration and Supervision (M.Ed. and Ed.S.)

The Womack Educational Leadership department also offers the Administration and Supervision program, leading to either a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Administration and Supervision, K-12 Public School specialization, or a Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) in Administration and Supervision, Instructional Leader specialization. In both programs, students engage in a practical field experience (practicum) while completing coursework toward the degree. The Womack Educational Leadership Department’s off-campus cohort programs meet students’ needs and help them accomplish their professional goals. A cohort can be formed through an interested student who contacts other individuals in his or her area.

Assessment, Learning, and Student Success (Ed.D.)

The College of Education’s doctorate in Assessment, Learning, and Student Success is designed to develop capabilities of existing school leaders, in formal and informal leadership roles. The program offers research-based knowledge, analytical skills, and practical application to enhance student learning, increase assessment scores, and improve schools. Educators who want to make an immediate difference in the lives of K-12 students are attracted to the program and the opportunity to participate in projects that result in direct improvements. The cohort-based doctoral program provides a structured curriculum that takes into account that most students are employed during their studies. Participants benefit from the support and collegiality of their cohorts.
