President McPhee's Charge to Committee
Revisit the current Academic Master Plan and recommend strategic directions and strategies for Academic Quality, Student-Centered Learning and Partnerships to guide the University over the next 10 years – taking the University to and through the first quarter of the 21st century. The Committee’s role is not simply to identify academic initiatives but to prioritize initiatives to best leverage our strengths through collaborations and partnerships. Our priorities must be established in the context of renewed commitment to student success given the Governor’s Drive to 55 initiatives to increase the number of Tennessee citizens with a certificate or degree beyond high school and the passage of the Complete College Tennessee Act of 2010 which mandated that state appropriations are now based on success in retention and graduation rates rather than enrollment.
