A Deep Dive into Creative Commons: Understanding Open Licenses
Spring 2023
More Details
Interested in getting started with open education? Perhaps you're thinking about using an OER textbook in an upcoming course, or maybe you're interested in openly licensing a work of your own. This workshop will give an overview of Creative Commons licenses and explain how they are useful in higher education. Representatives from the James E. Walker Library and MTSU Online will also give time at the end for participants to search for course materials in OER repositories and discuss what can and can't be done with those resources.
Topics to be covered:
- Brief history & overview of Creative Commons
- Basics of copyright law, the public domain, and CC licenses
- How to use CC-licensed works
- Resources for finding OER
