As a part of MTSU's Department of English, the General Education English program is dedicated to supporting undergraduate students enrolled in General Education English courses, which include ENGL 1010 (Expository Writing); ENGL 1020 (Research and Argumentative Writing); ENGL 2020 (Themes in Literature and Culture); and ENGL 2030 (The Experience of Literature).

The General Education English Program also provides support and professional development for faculty and graduate students who teach first-year writing and second-year literature courses.
