Foreign Corrupt Practices Act Compliance

The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 (15 U.S.C. ยงยง 78dd-1, et seq.) ("FCPA") prohibits certain persons and entities from making payments (bribes) to foreign government officials to obtain, further, or retain, business and/or business dealings.

MTSU has both academic and cultural-exchange relationships with such foreign countries as China, Nairobi/Kenya, and Kurdistan, as well as some countries within the European Union.  The Office of Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management, together with the Office of University Counsel, as well as other departments and divisions within the University, supports the monitoring and review of such international relationships and academic arrangements in furtherance of the University's mission and growth.  International cultural exchanges between the University and China also are monitored to ensure compliance with the intent and requirements of FCPA.
